WHY SHOP THRIFT? WARDROBE STAPLE.

Run. Don't walk to the menswear section of your favorite thrift store.  No. Not even your favorite thrift store, just any thrift store!  

TOP THREE REASONS TO SHOP MENSWEAR AT A THRIFT STORE:

1. Button down, collared shirts.  Designer.
2. Ties. Designer.
3. Sweaters!!

This is a Christian Dior cashmere sweater. 

I love it. Can't believe I found it.

Sure. You can wear any old black sweater you find in the retail market.  They are everywhere. They are made of every kind of textile you can imagine. But they are not all created equal.

This black sweater is warm, comfortable and I love the way it hangs. Boyfriend fit.

I paid $3.00 for it. 

I wear it all the time.

Lucky for me, the distinguished gentleman who previously owned this sweater was in the mood to unload both his Dior sweaters at once!

I will take the gray one, too!

That will be another 3 whole dollars.

I have worn these sweaters with so many different combinations but my favorite way is jeans, my go to hat and a menswear inspired boot.  Or better yet, a rock-n-roll inspired boot. The shape reminds me of something Mick Jagger, Prince or Gwen Stefani might wear.  I'm always on the look out for that shape.

I watched these boots while they lived at one of my favorite Minneapolis consignment stores: Fashion Avenue.  It isn't always a good idea to wait and watch with consignment. Its a game.  The price goes down but some other lovely lady may snatch em up first.  Snooze and lose.

But I had a strategy; consisting of size advantage and mass appeal.

These boots are size 6. Not as many women wear the size 6.
These boots are argyle. Ha! A daring design. Not all women take that kind of plunge.
They are also animal hair. Um, that is a positive thing.

These boots are simply amazing.
And when they went down to $25.00, I bought them.

Thank you, ladies of Minneapolis, for allowing me to give these boots a home.

I was not so lucky with a pair of Chanel lace up oxfords.  Doh!
